Planning your trip
Flights, packing, weather and the honest logistics of an Arctic week in Kiruna.

Fly via Stockholm Arlanda
Most international guests fly into Stockholm Arlanda (ARN), then take a short connecting flight north - around 90 minutes - to Kiruna Airport (KRN).
There is also the overnight train from Stockholm to Kiruna: a comfortable night train with sleeper cabins that leaves in the afternoon or evening and arrives in Kiruna the next morning. It is slower, scenic, and a lovely way to arrive.
Either way, we collect you. Every transfer is driven by an experienced winter driver in a minibus or van on studded winter tyres - the airport or station both ways, and to and from every single activity. You never arrange or pay for local transport. Our season runs December to March.
Less than you think
We provide the full winter clothing set for every activity - insulated overalls, boots, mittens and thermal layers - so you don't need to invest in Arctic gear. Bring your regular indoor clothing, comfortable layers, and anything personal you'd like underneath.

December to March at a glance
| Month | Day temp | Night temp | Daylight | Aurora notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| December | -5°C to -8°C | -13°C to -17°C | ~3-5 hrs | Darkest month of the season; excellent aurora darkness. |
| January | -8°C to -12°C | -16°C to -21°C | ~4-6 hrs | Coldest month; often the clearest skies. |
| February | -7°C to -12°C | -15°C to -19°C | ~7-9 hrs | A guest favourite - cold, crisp, bright days. |
| March | -3°C to -7°C | -15°C to -19°C | ~10-13 hrs | Longer days, still strong aurora activity at night. |
Temperatures vary from year to year and from day to day. The full winter clothing set we provide is built for exactly these conditions, so you stay warm whatever the week brings.
Deaf-friendly hosting, as standard
We're a Deaf-founded company, so clear written communication runs through everything we do - pre-trip briefings, on-the-ground instructions and daily schedules are all provided in writing. We're glad to arrange sign language interpretation with advance notice, and every guest, however they communicate, is warmly welcome.
Simple and transparent
A booking and arrangement fee of 20 percent of the total price confirms your dates and is non-refundable. The remaining 80 percent is due 60 days before departure, and that part is refunded in full for cancellations more than 60 days out, at 50 percent between 59 and 30 days, and not at all inside 30 days. Changes are subject to availability and an administration fee of EUR 50 per change. Full terms are set out on our Terms page.
Common questions
Do you guarantee we'll see the northern lights?+
We cannot promise the sky, and nobody honestly can. But we are northern lights specialists who live here: we track the forecast and the cloud cover every single night of your stay and we drive to where the sky is clearest, so you get every possible chance to experience this magical natural phenomenon. So far, 100% of our guests have seen the lights during their stay.
How do we get to Kiruna?+
Two good options, both from Stockholm. Fly into Stockholm Arlanda and take a short connecting flight (about 90 minutes) to Kiruna Airport, or take the overnight train from Stockholm: a comfortable night train with sleeper cabins that arrives in Kiruna in the morning. We collect you either way - you only book the travel to Kiruna itself.
When is your season?+
December to March only. These months give the darkest nights, reliable snow and the strongest aurora season in Kiruna.
What is included in the transfers?+
All local transport. Every transfer is driven by an experienced winter driver in a minibus or van on studded winter tyres - the airport both ways, and to and from every single activity during your stay. Guests never arrange or pay for local transport.
What happens after we book?+
You receive an email with a short form covering winter clothing sizes plus any allergies and medical conditions. Your gear is ready on arrival and every activity is adapted to you.
What should we pack?+
Pack light. We provide a full winter clothing set - insulated overalls, boots, mittens and thermal layers - for every guest. Bring your everyday indoor clothes, plus your own base layers if you have a favourite set.
Is the trip accessible for everyone?+
That is the idea. Guests of all language backgrounds are welcome and every guest receives written information about each activity in advance in their own language, so nobody has to rely on fluent English. Children and families are welcome and every activity is family friendly. Deaf and hard of hearing guests are hosted with the same care - we are a Deaf-founded company - and sign language interpretation can be arranged with notice. Share any needs in the post-booking form and we adapt.
What is your cancellation policy?+
A booking and arrangement fee of 20 percent of the total price is paid when your booking is confirmed and is non-refundable from that moment. The remaining 80 percent is due 60 days before departure, and of that 80 percent: cancellations more than 60 days before departure are refunded in full, cancellations 59 to 30 days before are refunded at 50 percent, and cancellations less than 30 days before are non-refundable. Changing your dates instead of cancelling is subject to availability and an administration fee of EUR 50 per change. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation and winter activities. The full terms apply.
Is Kiruna suitable for guests with limited mobility?+
Some activities (dog sledding, snowmobiling) require a degree of mobility, but many highlights - aurora viewing, the Sámi culture visit, the spa session - are accessible. Tell us your needs when booking and we will tailor the week.
