The Feel Good Week

No special fitness is required. Dog sledding and snowmobiling involve standing and balance for short periods, and there's some walking in snow. Most guests of any age and activity level manage the week comfortably.

Warm base layers, wool socks and a good pair of indoor shoes. We provide the full outer winter clothing set - overalls, boots, gloves and a hat - so you don't need to buy Arctic-grade gear.

We never promise the sky, and nobody honestly can. What we can tell you is that we are northern lights specialists who live here: we track the forecast and the cloud cover every single night of your stay and we go where the sky is clearest, so you have the best possible chance of seeing this magical natural phenomenon. Across five seasons, every group we have hosted has seen the northern lights, in varying strength.

Everything on the ground. Every transfer is driven by an experienced winter driver in a minibus or van on studded winter tyres - the airport both ways, and to and from every single activity during your stay. You never arrange or pay for local transport.

You receive an email with a short form covering your winter clothing sizes plus any allergies and medical conditions. That way your gear is ready and waiting on arrival, and every activity is adapted to you.

We run December to March only, and every departure is Wednesday to Sunday, four nights. The season opens in week 49, on Wednesday 2 December 2026, and closes on Sunday 28 March 2027. Christmas week is not sold. Wednesday to Sunday is deliberate: it is far easier to take off work than a midweek week, and these are the months with the darkest nights, reliable snow and the strongest aurora season in Kiruna.

Yes. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other dietary requirements are handled routinely - just let us know when you book and we'll confirm with each venue in advance.

Our rooms are all based on at least two people sharing, so the online booking starts at 2 guests and runs to 8. If you are travelling on your own, email info@smoothaurora.com and we will arrange it with you directly rather than turn you away. Groups are kept small and mixed and you would be in good company.

Families are welcome from around age 6 upward, though some activities like snowmobiling have age or height minimums for safety. Tell us your children's ages when booking and we'll advise or adjust the itinerary.

A booking and arrangement fee of 20 percent of the total price is paid when your booking is confirmed in writing, and it is non-refundable. The remaining 80 percent is due 60 days before departure. Of that 80 percent, cancellations more than 60 days before departure are refunded in full, cancellations 59 to 30 days before are refunded at 50 percent, and cancellations less than 30 days before are non-refundable. The New Year departure follows exactly the same ladder. You may also transfer your booking to another person who meets the conditions, on reasonable notice before departure, and you may cancel without a fee if unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at the destination significantly affect the package. We recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation.

Most departures are SEK 25 900 per person, about EUR 2 399. Seven weeks in the February and March high season - 3 to 7 February, 10 to 14 February, 17 to 21 February, 24 to 28 February, 3 to 7 March, 10 to 14 March and 17 to 21 March 2027 - are SEK 29 900 per person, about EUR 2 799. Those are the weeks when Kiruna is busiest and every hotel, guide and supplier charges more, so the price follows. The week itself is identical: the same hotel, the same activities, the same host. The New Year departure is a separate product at SEK 44 900. All prices are per person and include VAT.

The week of 30 December 2026 to 3 January 2027 is a separate, more expensive product at SEK 44 900 per person, about EUR 4 199. Every activity, supplier and member of staff costs more over New Year and the week is harder to run, so it is priced as a separate product. On top of the normal Feel Good Week it includes, on New Year's Eve, an amuse bouche and a four-course New Year supper at Restaurant Fe at Elite Hotel Frost - the hotel you are already staying in - with a drinks pairing you tick when you register your interest, and one gift of your choice from the Arctic Love Basket, the Arctic Spa Kit or the Mystery Box. Guests who prefer no gift receive a welcome kit instead. The other three evenings are the same two-course dinner as every other departure. Cancellation follows the same ladder as every other departure: 20 percent non-refundable from confirmation, then full refund of the remaining 80 percent more than 60 days out, 50 percent 59 to 30 days out, nothing inside 30 days.

Yes. We work with Deaf-friendly hosts and can arrange written briefings, sign language interpretation on request, and adapted transport for mobility needs - tell us your requirements and we'll confirm what's possible ahead of time.

Flights or train travel to and from Kiruna, which you book yourself. Lunches, apart from the meals that are part of the activities - the open-fire lunch on the snowmobile and ice fishing day and the Swedish fika during dog sledding. Breakfast every morning and a two-course dinner every evening at Restaurant Fe are included. Personal travel insurance is not included either, and every guest needs their own cover for winter activities.

Yes. Our application for the statutory Swedish travel guarantee is lodged with Kammarkollegiet and is being processed, and no booking is confirmed and no payment is taken until it is registered. Once it is, the guarantee protects the money you pay in advance if a trip is cancelled or cut short, including your journey home.
